Felicia is an independent contractor that came to Fluid at the beginning of our pilot program to accelerate payments on her invoices. Working for over three years as a freelance contractor, Felicia has experienced clients paying late and long contract terms. She describes Fluid as, “the perfect way to interface with my clients over payments”.

I am a web-programmer.

How long have you been an independent contractor?

I started about three years ago.

Whoa are your customers?

When I was starting out, I was helping local small businesses, but quickly moved to more mid-sized projects. I would say that I am looking for teams that have more finite contracts with budgets of $10,000 or more.

What is your typical customer engagement?

Ideally I would work on 90-day projects. But more typically a client will approach me at the last minute looking to launch their project or site.

How did you discover Fluid?

My project manager on one of my contracts actually brought up the service in relation to herself, and I thought I would try it out.

How has your experience been thus far?

It’s funny, of course I did not want to leave the software what I currently use. Once I realized that Fluid integrated with my favorite tool - Freshbooks, I was sold. I’m drawn to the fact that I can maintain my current workflow, but have this payment interface between me and my clients.

Did you ever consider any other options?

I never knew that something like this existed!

How has Fluid helped you?

It has made life a little less stressful. I know that the money is coming and I don’t have to badger my clients. Even though I haven’t experienced not being paid, being paid in a timely fashion is really nice.

What would you say to other independent contractors?

Fluid is a service that sits between you and your client financially that makes sure that you are paid on time. I like to think of Fluid as my personal banker.
